I am wondering what the value of a steyr mannlicher classic made around the late 60's would be? Bore looks like 70%. Wood is around 65-70% and blueing is approx. 70%. Has a leupold 3x scope on it and has two mags. Calibre is 8x57 js

Don't have pics.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Watch for cracking in the stock around the magazine well as the wood is quite thin and the mag well is quite wide. The chambering is not common so that may be a bonus for you. I much prefer the Luxus model with the narrow stock and steel magazine. I think around $1000-$1200 would be pretty much where I would tap out if I really wanted one. Some will say more, and I've seen some listed in the EE for +$2000 but I highly doubt that would be attainable except for maybe in .300 H&H and .375 H&H.

Thanks for the input. I looked for cracks and none were to be seen. The shop I saw it at wants 1400$. Comes with dies, brass, bullets, powder and some reloads which in my opnion is only worth 150$ due to its age (70-80s products). Looks like a decent rifle. I can also do a partial trade and + cash which is decent. Shoots excellent. The store owner tried it out off the hood of his truck and was able to get about 1inch group at about 100yards.

Is the Classic a fullstock or half stock?
I have a few of the Steyr rifles and K is bang-on with his opinion regarding calibre rarity and what to watch for. I think $1400 is a little steep due to your description of condition.
BTW 1899, I picked up a Luxus fullstock in 270. Love it.

Excellent - completely different feel in the hands compared to the regular model. I think only the Luxus came in a full stock with long action. I am curious- how much does it weigh?

I'll have to weigh it. Currently has a Swarovski mounted on it, so it'll be an "all in" weight.
