Value comparison of 4" S&W 581 to 4" S&W 586

Hi All

I am trying to find out how a 4" S&W 581 compares in value to a 4" S&W 586 assuming equal condition.

I have a 4" 581 that I might be selling and I need to figure out what the going rate is for one.

You don't see to many of them out there.

They are a more unusual piece, but unless you're a hardcore S&W collector the lack of adjustable sights will make the gun less valuable to most people. I'd say $450 or so, but I'm pretty cheap. - dan

I bought a 581 a while back for nostalgia's sake...I think I paid $425 for it.

4" 686s and 586s are fairly common on the EE, while their fixed-sighted cousins are rare. As Mr. Belisle mentioned upthread their popularity is limited, but I think their rarity outweighs that and would make them a maybe bit more desirable.
