Advice needed on value. An unfired 1986, Remington 1100 12 ga DU anniversary gun with 28" barrel, vent rib, 2 3/4" chamber, straight english stock, Beautifull figured wood, extra fine checkering, much gold inlay on both sides of the receiver, 2 Briley chokes. It's 100% - not a mark on it. Wadda ya think?

Grouser, well I think that its collector value is nill, DU guns are never worth what most people have paid for them with the odd exception. 2 3/4 gun even with chokes is fairly limited, I saw the nicest 870 I have ever seen before in a DU gun , extremely lovely piece of wood on both parts of the stock absolute mint shape on consignment it sold for $425.00, so your 1100 might be worth $1000.00 to someone, in my opinion. Mind you shotguns from NB seem to be alot more expensive than in the rest of Canada. FS

Sounds like it would make a nice clay sports gun, as it has only a 2-3/4" chamber BUT it has choke tubes. I guess it could also be used as a sunny-day upland gun, too.

I was one of those guys that bought a DU Beretta 686 O/U and left it hang on the wall for a year to admire. At the range one day and saw a guy shooting the exact same gun with his point being " they make guns to shoot". Shortly thereafter I took that gun out and shot it at clays for a couple years and sold it for what I paid for it.

Some DU guns are very generic while some are limited runs and may be very collectable to the right person with, as you mention, NIB condition.

For the gun you describe, assuming it's a standard DU dinner gun, I wouldn't go past that $700.00 mark but that $1000.00 bracket is certainly attainable to the person that has to have one.

I would question it being 100% with Briley chokes. I've never heard of any DU gun with Briley chokes installed; they all came with the factory chokes if they had the screw in choke barrels.:)

It's not impossible that they are in fact Briley chokes. The made a lot of OEM products for various manufacturers over the years. Even today Remington 28 gauge choke tubes are Brileys and are so marked.

To bad it wasn't a 16 bore they pattern so nicely they don't need choke tubes.

Thanks guys, I made a mistake on the bl length and is 25,5 inches --- I suppose it might be called an upland gun with the short bl and straight stock.
As for the chokes, they are after market. I was offered it as a trade from a very good friend -- but I think I'll pass. OOPS traded anyway.
As to 16 ga, as a 16 ga collector, I have never understood anyone wanting a modern Remington auto 16 since they are on a 12 ga frame & weight within ounces of the 12's and in comparison of those made on their own 16 ga frame are pigs to carry. IMHO ;)

Yes and you may be winning. I laughed at a Jerry Lewis movie, drank French wine with dinner last night and was admiring a Darne in a magazine only to notice it was a 16.

Sacre bleu. Good thing I don't own a beret. Yet. :D

I take it all you had for dinner last night was wine and bread. That's what happens when you shoot a 28 ga can't find shells therefore no meat on the table. I suppose even if you could find shells for that tiny little round the way they shoot you'd have better luck swinging a beret at game. ;)

Never have a problem finding 28 gauge shells. Just make them as I need them ;)

I did see a 16 gauge loader once. I believe it was at a museum of rare antiquities.:D
