Not really looking to sell it, but was recently handed down a Winchester 67 -22 short with a hooded front sight. The gun is in great condition other than some minor pitting on the barrel. Was thinking about just putting it up on the wall in my mancave/trophy room and was just wondering what the value of one of these old beauties is?

Cheers

An accurate description ("great condition" is meaningless) and good photos are required to get a somewhat accurate evaluation. It is a rare model.

ok sorry. I was just looking for a general number for curiosities sake. The stock is clean and excellent other than a scratch that I think I can iron out. The action is clean and shiny. The barrel has some very minor pitting on i would say about 45% of it. I'll try and upload pics. This site just sucks to upload pics on tho.

I give questions like these allot of thought, as I let a few family guns go about 15 years ago and still question whether or not I should have. On rare occasions where I'm really honest with myself, there is a bit of a lingering regret about it. However, I also ask myself whether or not I would have EVER shot them between then and now, and the answer is "no". It also comforts me knowing how pragmatic that (deceased) family member was, I can't see him ever holding onto guns he never used, they would have likely been moved down the road FOR something he could have put to use.

I know ^that wasn't the question, but something to consider (maybe?) when selling family guns. Something as old as your Winchester, with perhaps modest resale value, that is chambered in a caliber you can still buy off the shelf=I'd probably keep it.

Scratch on the stock and 45% minor pitting is not in "great" condition.
So now I'm scaling back to $150 - $175.

Thats fair looky. I suppose I used the wrong wording, in my defence I wasn't trying to oversell it as I plan on keeping it, was just wondering an approximate value for curiosities sake as I knew it was old.

Cheers

Says "winchester model 67-22 short" on the barrel

Only reason I ask is I remember back in 2011 a discussion on an American forum where they were discussing the model 67. It was claimed by several members that no one had ever seen an actual model 67 chambered in short only. They always turned out to be marked SLLR. So if marked short only then you do indeed have a rare model 67.

Edit--could you post a pic of the barrel marking?

My fault. You are correct. It says Winchester model 67-22 short on the top of the barrel stamp. Then upon inspection underneath it says "long and long rifle". In the next line down.

If one actually uses the nra rating of firearms values are grade by condition so match your condition to the grade and there you go simple format
67 are night high value guns a 98% gun would be 300$ possibly
