I'm trying to help a buddy figure out what a fair market value would be for a shotgun he has. It's a Webley and Scott boxlock extractor with (I believe) a Prince of Wales style grip. Barrels are 30" and in very good condition. If anyone could help me put a value on it I'd appreciate it.

Very nice - a medium grade gun I think. If the bores are good it should bring around $1000. A little more if it has ejectors.

It's worth about $250 but Ii will trade you a REAL nice mossy 500 tacticool for it!!:D
Seriously though, nice gun and nitro proofed as well!
The nitro proofed guns are going anywhere from $900 to about $2,000 depending on the condition.
It has lots of case colour left, so I would be prepared to spend a little more than a grand for it , myself.

Sounds like my initial thoughts were at least in the ball park. Any other info I should get from him? He wants me to list it here for him.

$1,200-$1,800 but that's a wild guess. I'd suggest a pm to Sharptail who knows a ton more about these guns than me.

Other info that would help would be the chokes, weight, LOP, drop at comb, whether it's right hand cast or left.

From the looks of the wood it could stand to be refinished and rechequered. The metal looks okay though and the screws don't look buggered. Fixing up the wood is easy. The metal not so much.

Beauty. Off the top of my head, I'd guess you need to do some serious research before you let it loose for only 1k. If the bores are good, you have a real decent user grade English shotgun. As to the wood, looks to me as far as I can see from these pictures, you might be surprised at what would turn up if you cleaned things real well and cleared the chequering. I'd love to hunt ducks with that gat and soft no-tox. 1.25 proofs are lots of gun for something British of that era, especially with the raw butt. neat.
