Hey folks,

I've been looking about for a while, to get ahold of a 4T rifle. I've built a clone but what I'd love to find is one of the real things.

I understand a complete kit, with rifle, scope, case, etc, can run 3-5k (or more), but what is a reasonable price for just the rifle, sans scope?

Any advice,etc would be appreciated.

-Thanks

If the rifle is of the usual quality expected of a no4T, I would suggest $1200 for the rifle.
If you add up the remainder at $2K for the scope and bracket, $500 for the can, $700 for the chest, another $100 for the sling, you get to the price of a mismatched rifle.

The things that will drive the base price up from there will be the condition of everything, the maker (premium for a LongBranch, a trials rifle, or a Savage), and matching numbers.

Thank you, Stencollector, that's a good point to start on.

I could see a Reproduction go for 2k, I think I have seen them go for that much or around that. I think the cheapest legit No4T I've seen on here was like 4-5k

I know someone who paid $5000 for a fairly complete No.4T 2 years ago. 1945 BSA Shirley with matching numbers on the rifle but the scope not matched to the rifle. The scope number impressed on the top butt wrist did not match the scope on it. Neither was there a rifle number on the mounting bracket, which was a post war thing. So there is one price point. Did they pay too much? They really wanted to have one in their collection and took what was available. Seemed happy about it. It shot well but the scope turrets were a bit stiff to turn.

Trust me, you gentlemen get your No4[T] rifles for nothing. It's years since I've seen one here in UK under Can$7000 without accessories. There are currently two at a well-known dealership for Can$14000 and Can$15700 respectively. Both are complete in their transit chests, mind.....
