Hey guys, a friend of mine has a 1.5-6x20 B&L scope Part # 64-1568 that he would like to know the value of if he were to sell it. It is in very nice condition and clear. I am not sure what series it is but he said he paid like $500+(maybe 4000 series??) for it back in early '90s when he put it on his 7MM. He said he had the box for it as well, but he had to find it first. Any idea what this thing is worth???Thanks.....Scott

No, No I don't think it's worth $500:eek:, he said he paid $500+ in the early '90s for it. I will try and get the model number off him and post it. Thanks...:)

When I was looking for information on a bausch and lomb balvar 3-9x40 scope I had that I could not find any info about on the internet, I called bushnell (as they own the B&M name) and got the complete info including date of production and MSRP at the time of sale by providing a model and serial number to them. Give it a shoot. :)

The Elite series of Bushnell used to go by the name Bausch&Lomb. Could be an Elite 3000 or 4000.

I have an older B&L Elite 3000 1.5-4.5x32 that I paid about $300 for back in the early 90's.

His is probably not worth more than $200, give or take.

The B&L scopes from 80 & 90 where very fine scopes, just as clear as leupolds I have the same scope $200 would not buy mine, you just can't replace the quality of the B &L scopes.
I have a 24x B&L on my 222 rem at 100 & 200y its just as bright and clear as any Leupold

Thanks for the responses everyone, I appreciate it. There really isn't much info on the net about these scopes. I'll let him know the info you guys gave me.:)

Very true, it is the Bausch and Lomb Balvar, excellent scope and it did retail for the same price as Leupold Vari-X III at that time give or take $20 but didn't hold their resale value like Leupold.

I used a Balvar 2.5-10x40mm in the late 80's on a 7mm Mag. Back then in a side by side comparison with a Vari-X III the Balvar was brighter and clearer to me no matter what the light level. The Balvar also held it's zero. Never had to adjust it even after a few knocks in the years I had it.
