Value of a Beretta 686 Onyx Ducks Unlimited

Looking at purchasing this shotgun, and was wondering if someone can give me a value on it that would be fair to me the buyer and the seller. It has been used. All the metal is in excellent condition. The wood does have some marks on it shown in the pictures. The gun also comes with the hard case, chokes, ect. Any help on this would be great. Thanks.

I recently sold the identical gun to a friend of mine for $1500 but it was pretty much mint...which I thought was a fair price.

Evidently not - check the pics. That said, I see no reason why this couldn't fetch a price similar to what a used white onyx would.

There are many potential gun buyers who will pass a ducks unlimited gun up to buy a regular model. Many don't want the gun stamped or adorned with ducks unlimited garb which adds no real value to the gun. You will find this same info on many gun forums where value of ducks unlimited guns are discussed. Some will pay the same price as a regular model but few will pay more just because its for ducks unlimited. Right or wrong, that's just the way it has been.

$1500 is a bargain. The expensive part comes when you want just a little bit better, or the next new thing, or longer, or prettier.....
As a shooter that looks like a deal to me.

The Too Many Special Editions problem can be seen with Winchester lever guns, where they've made so many commemoratives that people don't really care about most of them.

The Ducks gun pictured here is not embellished very strongly, but any gun that has gold-plated accents that will wear off with use is just a safe queen to most. In fancy shotguns people pay for the wood (which isn't spectacular on this one).

Another issue could be that people are worried about being made fun of on the trap field shooting a duck gun rather than a dedicated sporting gun. I mean, it has a duck right on it. Trap snobs exist.

Anyway, the gun is as good as the base model it was made from, just depends on the buyer.

No, I had the chance to do a bit of shooting with it before buying. The fit was not quite right for me.
