Would like to know the value of a Browning Miroku BSS o/u, 12g., 3" with 30" barrels F&M. I'm told the gun was purchased in 1977, is a field grade he thinks, has shot under a 100 rounds, no marks, mint, as new condition, with original box.

They are very fine shotguns,I have one from 1976 thats 28" barrels,Imp/mod,and yes,a bit heavy for hunting but built like a tank and perfect for clays. If you want to sell yours PM me,I shoot with a guy that was asking where he could find one just last Sunday.

Probably a bit on the heavy side.
1977 seems a bit old for a hardly used otherwise nice shotgun.

Maybe find out why is that so??

Not that unusual to find them in hardly used condition. I have come across 3 in the last while that were hardly used. In fact, I sold one a month ago that was pretty much like new from 1975 having no more than a couple of boxes of shells through it.

I haven't seen the gun, I am presently advertising for a Citori on EE and this is one that came up. He wants $1450 firm. Says if he can't get that it can continue collecting dust.

Is it a BSS for sure. Reason I ask is because if you advertised for a Citori the BSS is a world apart from what you want. As mentioned, the BSS is a SxS so it would be quite a compromise in what you are after.

For $1450 I would pass on it, you can find them well worked in for almost half that. My opinion of doubles for hunting is that they are more enjoyable well worked in, that's just me. You could find a nice one for $950 with better chokes.

I'd say $1450 is a bit high for a 12g, might pay that for a 20g in new condition. Also, is it pistol grip or English stock? The straight English stock is less common, therefore worth a bit more. I think the 30" barrels are less common than the 26". I have both 12g and 20g, with 26" barrels, love the 20g, like the 12g.

You know,1450 might be a little high, not much, and for that money you'll never find a better made double. That 100 bucks you over pay won't mean a thing 5 years from now. If I didnt already have one,Id be after it.

I sold my 28" ic/m on here for 750.

Just too...fat for my taste. The entire point of shooting a sxs is for the lively feel in hand, the bss feels like a drunken citori slumped over it's side.
