Hi !

What is the value of a commemorative Winchester 94, Oliver F. Winchester with a 26 in octagonal barrel in 38-55 ? I saw the rifle and it is almost 99% condition. Sadly, it is without box and papers

One of my shooting friend, an old man affraid by computer, ask me the question last week.

Thanks

Almost 99% condition means what?
A commemorative value is reduced considerably without the original box and papers. Most dealers or collectors wouldn't be interested at any price.
The gun value would always be there but the desirability of owning a commemorative is all about the complete package. Thus, the book value takes a beating.
I bought and sold commemoratives for a few years, and whenever I came across one that wasn't complete, it sold for about the same price as a good, used 30-30, usually to someone that was going to shoot it.

My uncle bought the same gun, un-fired, for $500.

Yer uncle was a fortunate man....
