just wondering what value im looking at for a model 12 (12 ga) that i had the gun smith cut the barrel down to riot gun length.

the gun is circa 1954 and retains about 80% of its original blue, the stock and fore end are in good condition with no cracks or heavy handling marks.

now i know that i prob decreased the value by cutting the barrel in the first place but im just looking for the as is value this old shottie would hold in its present state.

thanks in advance for your input.:D

m12 riot

Assuming that the gun was just a standard field grade before you had it shortened it would definately be worth less than when it was original. Having said that the model 12 market has softened over the past 10 years with only unusual model 12's having increased in value ie: trap skeet versions etc. I would say and I wait to be corrected, that if you found the right buyer who wanted a short shotgun it MAY be worth about 250.00. Keep in mind that the model 12 in riot configuration would perform it's roll VERY well with no need to upgrade anything. Sounds like a fun gun that would be cool looking to me.

cheers Darryl

Darryl,

thanks for the input. yeah, this little shotgun is sweet. handles really well and plus i feel like Elliot Ness (Untouchables) everytime i shoot her at the range.
i think if i had to choose i would sell my 870 before i would sell the mdl. 12.:D

The wood is good on my gun but the finish on the stock is blotchy and discolored. im thinking of refinishing it. what would be the best proceedure to follow so that i can achieve the best results?
