I just bought several guns from a friend. They had belonged to his brother who passed away. Among them is a Marlin Model 39A lever action rimfire rifle. Rimfires really aren't my thing so I plan on selling it. Any idea what it might be worth? The serial number has an "H" prefix which indicates it was made sometime between 1945 and 1953. Apparently this model has the deeper Ballard style rifling and predates the micro grove barrels that started appearing in 1954. It's a plain model (no checkering, etc.) but appears to be in pretty good shape with only a few minor scuffs in the wood and the bluing is in nice condition. The only minor issue is that in the grip cap there appears to have been a semi-circular insert which has gone missing. Overall I'd rate the gun at an absolute minimum of 80-85%.

Sorry, no pics at the moment but I'll post some in a few days if I get my Christmas shopping done. :D It looks exactly like this one:

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Old Marlins and old Winchester lever guns in 22 caliber get stupid money these days, I'd bet a dollar you'd have 20 guys lining up to give you $750 or more for this fine sounding old piece. FS

Likely be just as fast at $750, FS

Good to know.
The last 39 I bought was a few years ago. It'a an early 70's with slim wood and I found it in the used rack of Lever arms.....wasn't really looking for it but for $400 it was a "no-brainer"
