My father has a chance to buy a Savage 99 in 22 Hi Power and I would like to know approximately what it's worth.

- Straight grip
- 24" barrel
- Color case hardened lever
- Fixed rotary mag
- Rear sight missing but has a peep sight
- Checkered stock
- Crescent buttstock
- Serial # 165###
- Very Good Condition

MadDog??

Is the finish original or has it been re-finished? Has it been drilled for scope mounts? Solid frame hi-powers are comparatively rare. Value would only be there if it is in "collector" condition--as a shooter there is not much "premium" for the hi-power, although they are more desirable than the .303's due to ammo availablility. Depending on condition/originality of finish would be $350 - $650-750. The tang site, depending on model will be worth $75-150 if finish is not worn too badly.

Might be worth an enquiry on the savage collectors forum on the 24hourcampfire site.

Give 'em a try. They talked me into buying a Winchester. :p

Sorry Billy, don't go gettin to excited.

The guns been Bubba'd.

First off the 24" barrel gave it away, there were no 1899's with a 24" barrel, thought it might be a model B when you stated the cresent butt but the serial number is to low. I think someones had some fun with it. Bet ya if you check the barrel address of the gun it won't match the year of production of the gun.

If the barrel hasn't been cut then it came off an EG or something around those years with a 24" barrel, 22H.P. barrels that long are seldom seen, the gun would make a good shooter for sure but don't go paying collector prices, $300-$400 tops.
