I have a friend who is thinking of selling his Browning BSS in 12 gauge. The gun is in beautiful shape with a very few minor handling marks. He still has the factory box and hang-tags.

Edit note: More info - English stock. Satin finish on wood. Not a sidelock. Fixed chokes, IC and Mod. 28" barrels

So what would a fair selling price be for this shotgun?

Box Lock or side lock?
According to the Gun Traders Guide (1999), a standard model B-SS shows at $425 USD retail. So maybe $400 CAD in As-New to Excellent condition.

However, the Side Locks jump in price considerably to $1400 USD retail.

Looking around the net, these seem rather sparse on the auction circuits, so you may get a fairly good price for this.

I saw one B-SS in NRA Good went for $775 USD, and one went for $965 USD 98% gun with hang tags and box. But, there was also a sidelock NIB unfired with all associated goodies went for $2700 USD.

(EDIT) Sorry you were updating as I typed.

I can see that shotgun tagged for about $1000 or more in a gunstore, and selling!
