The widow of a friend wants to sell his Weatherby MK V rifle. It's a left hand version marked "7mm magnum" (I don't know if that means 7mm Weatherby magnum or 7mm Remington Magnum). Comes with a Bushnell Banner 3-9 scope.

It's an older, wood stocked gun but looks to be in excellent shape with only a couple of very tiny marks on the wood.

Any suggestions as to what it would be worth?

I see two in 300 WBY on another site one is listed for 1000 and the other 2300. The first one has some dents and scratches in the stock. The second one comes with a few extras. It’s hard to value a rifle without photos and such. The banner scopes aren’t worth a whole lot these days couple hundred and most I think.

I’d be thinking you would be safe within the 1000$-1500$ mark. Could potentially be a little more or a little less.

The lefties are hard because they can be a few hundred bucks more expensive up front but resale (due to smaller market) can be a little less. Either way Weatherby did and does make some nice rifles so I’m sure she can get a decent amount for it.

I see a few right hands going for around 1000$ on here and some ultralights going for a bit more.

Without pictures and exact caliber, it's hard to say. I've seen left handed mark V made in Japan sell for anywhere from $600-$3,000. To a collector (if it's in collector condition) a 7mm weatherby might be worth more, but to the average person, it's probably worth less, given the scarcity and cost of ammo. Either way though, it'll be a well built gun

If it's a real early made German Weatherby it would be just stamped 7mm Magnum because the Weatherby's weren't chambered in anything else but Wby calibers back then. Hell it might be so early the Remington Magnum wasn't even out yet.

Does the serial number start with a P?

It just says "7mm Magnum" and I'm not a hunter so I just took a stab at the two most likely 7mm Magnum calibres given the age of the gun. I will have to check the serial number.
