i see prophet river has a grade 1 with the box for 1500 is there much of a price difference between grade 1 and 5?

how do i tell between the different grades?

thanks

Grade 1 would be the low end . 7 the high for browning wood grades . The 42 I beleive was a special run pump 410 was it not ?

They run from Grade 1 to Grade 7.
wood and Engraving and other embellishments.
I had a Grade 5 Auto Loader a few years back and I even shot it too.
Ran wonderfully on the trap range, but didnt like the sporting clays after the second round.
Anyways, the Pump would be a very nice one if it is a Grade 5 gun (not doubting, just saying).
They are generally collector or given as a gift and very few see the wilds in the upper grades of wood.
Check the pictures out in the link.
You might be impressed or scared.

yea it definitely had the gold embossed engraving. is there a way to definitively tell between grades ?

thanks

Sure, Google and search for the various grades.
Or head over to Browning dot com and see what the current Grades are.
They will and do change when ever they do a run of these guns.
From game scene to wood grades.
I'm not a Browning Expert, but google has a gun safe full of information.
Rob

** Thank You pointing out the Grades 28 gauge.
Last one I saw posted here was Primo DĂłlares

The Browning Model 42 was the Browning version of the old Winchester Model 42.It was made in Japan in two grades Grade 1 and Grade V.There was a Japan version of the same gun with the Winchester name marked on it as well.Guns were made back in the 80's or 90's to the best I remember. The original Winchester Model 42 shotguns were made in the U.S.A.

$1500.00 seems a bit on the high side to me ,for a Browning Model 42 Grade 1.The Browning Model 42 Grade V is a much more fancy gun and I would expect now a days going in the $1,300 to $1,500 range.

yea guess hes right on the money. going to try for a package deal

I'm a bit confused though, trying to look up the serial on Winchesters website yielded no results. Also can't find much info on when these were made in Japan.

serial starts with WFT.

Barrel and action have matching serials.

edit: Looks like it a early 90's Miroku/Winchester replica.

Anybody have an idea on value?

Very nice looking gun . It for sure is better than grade 1 wood . And looks to be in excellent condition . Make an offer your comfortable with and see what happens .

From what I recall they made 850 of them in 1993. It is a reproduction made for winchester
It is not a grade 5 like the similar browning repo but what they called a higher grade than standard so somewhere better than a grade 1
They don't come up very often for sale since there was only 850 but that being said they are normally a tough sell with a very small market especially if fired and no box / paper work
In the US that gun may bring as high as 1800-2000 but here one would have to take the best offer since why would one spend the same money on a repo that an original could be bought for. If I really wanted it 1000-1200 max would be my offer knowing I would not make any money off it to resell
Cheers

Here is a chance to get a deal on a limited production gun guns international has s nib one $3 k and if you really want to spend some money GI has the gun with serial number one for the asking price of $13,000.00 US . Good luck to all they are japanize commeretives

Do not forget those guns are in the U.S.A.Prices are lower in Canada. Also those guns are new in the box with all their papers.Guns without boxes ,papers and have been fired , go for much less, from what I have seen for commemorate type firearms.
