I know where there is a Non refurbed all matching 1943 Longbranch. NRA good or better condition. I have no clue of the value. It belongs to a senior citizen who claims his uncle brought it home from WW2 and has been at his house since he was a boy. He says no one has ever shot it because they don't know how to use peep sights. Anyways he wants 400 dollars for it. I told him it is probably worth a little more. However I may be way off base. What say ye? (It's an hour drive to get pics and see the rifle). I haven't seen the rifle but he says its in just as good shape as his newer browning .308 rifle. Including the bore.

Definetly worth the $400 and maybe up to $600 or more but a guys gotta see it of course. I'd just give him $500 and own it. It would be $100 more than he wants and you know you wouldn't be going wrong either.

I can't really afford to buy another rifle. I already have a No4Mk2 and love it. I called him and told him its worth at least 600. Thanks for the replies and PM's.

I shudder at the thought of what the bore in that rifle may look like. I was given a Lee Enfield because the guy new I liked em and he hadn't shot it in 20+ years, the bore was black with dust and crud. After I cleaned it it was still a mess. It only really shined up after a put a round down the barrel.

I'm not saying the gun isn't worth $600, just relating a story about guns that "sit" for a long period of time.

I think wether the OP has the money or not he should still go have a look! Why you ask?

(I've posted this before, but figured it was worth a mention again)

Because, last year I called a seller that had an add in a local buy/sell site. He had a "lee enfield" for sale that he said his father in law gave to him in the early 1960's. He put it in his safe and it sat there for the next 50 years or so. When I arrived at the sellers's house I found this:

It's an AG Parker target rifle!! The bore looked brand new and I swear I was the first person to ever put a round down the chamber!! It was missing the PH5C sights but for the modest price he wanted I couldn't complain. He was going to hand it in at one of those rifles for cameras police events. He was just happy that somebody would give him cash for it!!

BTW, I didn't have the money either but I found it in my pocket lickity split when I laid eyes on that rifle!!:)

If it's that good when you actually see it me thinks it's a buy if the price comes down a little..

It doesn't look as though dave is going to buying it, he just let the fella know what she would be worth.

I opened up the local classifieds ad to see if this rifle is gone (which it is not) and there is a Springfield Garand on there for 875 dollars (says he will include a synthetic stock too lol). What you won't see when you are broke. I can't win for losing.
