value of browning 1911 22 100th year anniversary

Commemorative guns are a waste of time and money. There is no true collector value and the owner usually feels guilty about shooting it due to the perceived " collector value" so you lose on both counts.
Some may have sentimental value but none have collector value.

I think the Brownings are a little better quality than the GSG, SIG and Colt 1911 .22's. They are made from machined aluminium. My dad was looking at one when they first came out but at the time they were only 3/4 size at the time so he bought a GSG. It has been a good gun for him however we both agree the brownings are a little nicer but a lot more money but not near as nice as his original COLT ACE. as far as comemartives go, I have a couple. A 1776-1976 RUGER SINGLE SIX in stainless my dad gave me and a COLT PEACEMAKER .22 ARIZONA RANGERS that I have had for a while but since neither gun doesn't have original box or paperwork for them plus they have been fired their value is reduced. If you like it just shoot it!

I can appriciate the 1911-22 but the anniversary model does not justify the extra cost. For what stores are asking I would rather get the 380 Black Label. I could see the 380BL becoming more collectable because they are better finished and have a few more features than the plain Jane 22 version or even the anniversary model. My wife had hers at the range along with her PPK (Prohib) and comparing the two (even with the 4+ inch barrel) the 1911-380 is slimer, almost as small, is a lighter gun and the 380 is still a 9mm and much more powerful than a 22 or 32 in the case of the Walther.

I am surprized that this gun is Not on the Prohib list because it is so small for what is accentually a 9mm but I guess it is the same logic why my wife's Bearcat, with a 3.75 barrel is a Prohib and her New Bearcat with a 4.25 barrel is restricted.
