Hello. I realize this is tough to ask without a picture, but I am looking to find the value of a BLR in 243 for a friend. It is an older model, and there is a fair bit of wear on it. It is not rusty anywhere, but the blueing is worn on the last couple of inches near the muzzle. The stock and forstock have normal wear and scratches. It is well used, but does not appear abused. Also has a Leopold 3x9x40 on it. I assume both are at least 30 years old. Right now there is no magazine for it either. Thinking of getting the on line version of the blue book, but as far as I know, the US values are a lot lower than Canadian.

Thanks.

The magazines for those older BLRs can be hard to find, and expensive. Is the 3-9x40 a Vari-X II? The .243 BLRs seem to have a pretty good following and will likely be easier to sell than say a .308 Win. I think being "well used but not abused" you would be looking at somewhere between $650 and $750 with the scope.

Edit - price is with magazine.

The US values don't relate to Canadian pricing at all. Some models are more expensive and some are less costly than BB values.
I'd estimate your rifle is worth $500 +/- $100 for condition, and $100 for the scope. Ask $650 and be ready to settle for $600.
243 isn't really going to get you any more money than the 308, but might help it sell faster. Lots of people looking for 243 for kids and smaller shooters.
