I bought this Rem 700P new in 1991. 308 with a 26 inch barrel, I believe the stocks were by McMillan or H-S Precision? Pretty much stock except for a mag extender and a Harris bipod. I mounted a Leupold 3.5-10x 50mm AO, matte finish and target knobs with Mildot reticle on Leupold matte steel rings and bases. I put together a spare parts kit with ejectors, extractors, firing pin assembly and the stock mag components etc......and I never fired it......

I know....sacrilege....but I just never got around to it.

Has been sitting in my safe for 25 years. I think this time capsule needs a new home. Any thoughts on value appreciated.

Any pics of the bolt face?

Current new 700p would be in that 1600-1800 range. This is still technically "used", so I'd expect 15-20% less. That's just on the rifle not counting scope. Pics of the bolt face and even pics from a bore scope would help convince people it's 25yrs old but in New condition

Perhaps what you paid for the rifle itself originally, however that would now include the scope at no extra cost to the buyer.

It seems the value of these rifles have gone down as I do recall looking at one of these to purchase at approximately the time you bought this one.

Perhaps due to the popularity of AR's and semi.'s in general? Or because there are better calibre choices available now for long range precision shooting, not to mention rifles like the RPR and custom builds offering greater performance at lower prices then ever.

However to someone who wants to collect a rifle kit like this, finding one all original and un-shot like yours would likely make for a higher value, especially if the quality of this earlier product is superior?

Of course I'm no expert and ultimately the market value is what one person will pay.

As for a bore scope or other to prove legitimacy, I personally would trust your feedback score.;)
and nice rifle set-up btw.

Any chance it was sold originally as a RCMP Sniper Rifle, because that's how I re-call a similar one being advertised...

Thanks for the sound advice.

No RCMP connection, that's just the way I put it together. I'm flattered that the RCMP copied my set-up!!!!:d

I also made a spot for a sling (under the buttstock data card holder) and a pair of Bausch & Lomb binos (lower right), but I took those out to use years ago.

I would say though that the scope is probably not worth much anymore. Well, maybe to the Leupold die-hards but not much else.

It probably has the old style tigger on it and guys love those.
