I'm planning on selling my 4" Colt Anaconda in VG condition. I've been looking around, trying to find a fair current value. The current prices actually surprised me a bit. Gun broker, and a couple of different sites show most priced at $1800-$2500. This is higher than I expected. Comments?

1800-2500 might be right for excellent to mint 6" or 8", but unlikely for a prohib.

I am no expert here but I would be surprised if you could get $1000.00 for a prohib here. Don't get caught up using the prices in the USA as your guide line as Canada is a complete different market.

You see people doing this all the time on the EE here and 99% of the time the gun just sits there forever without selling.

Just my two cents worth.

Yep, sadly, in the US you could get $1000 for that in a heartbeat. Here in Canada, maybe half. It really sucks to be a seller of 12(6) guns here.

Doesn't help to be a buyer either, as the number of people you can sell them to is decreasing yearly. Soon you won't be able to buy or sell a 12(6) in Canada unless the law changes.

I've seen them sell on the EE for $1000, but not often. I wonder if you can sell it on gunbroker and export it to the USA? Maybe contact irunguns to see if they have any insight?

That may be worth looking into. From what I can tell the US and Canadian markets are very different. Cheap or mainstream guns seem to be cheaper in the US but high end or collectable items seem to go for much more stateside than they do here

It is not only that the buyer pool is less, but very soon the gun will be worthless as it will have to have the barrel changed or it will be destroyed.
Well, "very soon" in a geological sense maybe. :). There are some of us still buying and shooting 12.6 handguns...and we're not all about to die (hopefully:)). While I agree that you won't get US prices here I would think $750-$1000 easy...maybe more. There's no way it would need to be sub-$500 to sell.

To me, there are three categories on the EE: junky stuff like all those cheapy old European semi-autos ($150 or less), nice but common stuff like 4" Model 10s or 19s (those are nearly always sub-$450 and sometimes sit for a while unless they're a great price)), but then there are the rarer items that can still command higher prices, like Pythons, N-Frames, or 12.6 Glocks. I'd put the Anaconda in that category.

Check Gunbroker for a replacement 6-8" bbl. Get it rebarreled up here and you make your $700-$800 Anaconda into a $1500+ revolver.

Well, stick it on the EE (it doesn't cost anything) for whatever you would be happy to sell it for. If it sells, great. If it just sits there, or if the only offers you get are like 50 cents on the dollar, you know it's not worth that much.

The gun is worth C$1200.00 even as a prohib. Colt Anaconda production did not reach anywhere near DiamondBack production of 300K. And while Colt made Anaconda's in 44mag & 45 Colt, I don't believe production went much beyond 50K.
People are always looking to buy Colt Anaconda's, so don't sell yourself cheap. Twelve hundred or nothing...
