I have a couple Polish M44's and don't need two.
Rifle # 1 I believe is unfired. When I acquired it there was still some grease in the barrel and the magazine follower is absolutely unmarked,
Rifle # 2 I have had for a few years. It is a good shooter and has had a couple hundred cast rounds fired through it.
I don't do pictures but both look "unissued" as were many that were imported about 15?? years ago, They are beautiful well made and finished rifles as any MN fan knows.
A good friends son is interested in one and I want to come up with a fair to both of us price. If he doesn't take one the unfired one will wind up on the EE.

Thanks

Hi Old Ranger,

I am very interested in buying the unfired M44. My son recently bought a "brand new" unfired Polish M44 for $450 which I believe included the shipping to BC, I was very impressed. Is the stock on your rifle the blonde wood?

I had one and it was no where near as accurate as my 38 or 91/30's bayonet folded or not.Sold it and moved on......Harold

They are the nicest finished Mosins ever.
That said, they are "bulky" and unbalanced, but they shoot OK...
I owned two brand-new ones over the last three decades, and I sold the last one last year for ~$450.00, which about right.

Hi, I have tried replying to your PM but cannot see my sent PM's in my file.
So just to repeat what I said in the PM's. Do you know when your friend's son will make his decision? I am looking at buying another rifle, but have only the money for the one purchase. My preference would be to buy your Polish M44. I know you say you don't do pictures, but a photo sure would be nice.
Regards,
BeadyEye
PS Can you let me know if you got my PM's?

I own one new "in the grease" and I wouldn't sell for less than $450 PLUS shipping, and that's only if I really needed the money quick. If the unfired ones sell for a premium does it really matter how they shoot? There's plenty of relatively inexpensive Russian M38 and M44's out there to buy for the bush or the range. Keep in mind that Mosin carbines were not intended to be highly accurate. They were generally issued to non-combat troops that needed something handy but powerful enough to fight only if necessary. Think troops guarding trains, cooks, mechanics etc.

Hi tplumtree,
I believe that you are the person who started me on the quest to purchase an unissued Polish M44.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was you who sold my son an unissued Polish M44 a few months ago. I was very impressed, hence my desire to get one myself.

$450-500 is on mark in today's market. They are beautiful rifles and seem to always be in great shape.

What's crazy are sellers in the EE listing their run of the mill, dinged up and lesser quality finished Izhevsk M44s for nearly the same prices as the Polish ones. Especially when dealers are selling the Russian ones for $380-400.

My buddy has a BEAUTIFUL polish M44. Finish is amazing, trigger is nice. .317 bore. Guess how it shoots?

I bought my Mint condition (looked unfired) 1955 Polish M44 about 5yrs ago.... IIRC for $250. Absolutely love shooting this rifle and will give it to my son when I'm done with it.
May not be the most accurate rifle but its fun pumping lead downrange @ 100yrds with irons. Nice fireballs too!
