Hello everyone.
I've had the similar thread started a while back, but I didn't have the rifle in my possession yet and therefore I was missing some info. Anyway, recently I acquired a Swedish M96 rifle from family member's estate. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it so far, thus wouldn't hurt to know the value of this type of firearm in Canada. So, here it is: Swedish M96 rifle, made in 1919, Carl Gustaf make, 740mm barrel, nice wood no ser#on wood(?), just 2 crowns stamped on bottom of the stock. All serial #'s on metal parts are matching, except mag.floor plate and barrel bands. The bore is in very good condition. 95% of blueing. The finish on the wood is all original. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The stock will definatly be marked. If you take the action out of it, the serial number will be under the barrel.

If all of the numbers are matching, and the stock disc holds good news, you'll see similar oneslisted in the EE for $300-$350.

Here's a closeup of the brass disk(sorry, i did my best). Numbers read 6.51 and 6.46. I guess its bore diameter. As like i said before all numbers are matching except mag floor and barrel band(?). The rest of the rifle is matching.

Looks like it has a nice tight bore from the disk info. Too bad the range plate is missing - you can make out one of the tacks on the same photo.

I'd say it's a $250-300 rifle or so. Definitely should be worth keeping as they will go up in value over the years.

I agree with claven2 on pricing. :)

By the way, the double crown means it went for Swedish arsenal re-working at some point. Check the serial numbers really close to see if there's overstamping or "double stamping" of serial numbers on any components.

Regards,
Doug

Swede

Just sold one to a fellow gunnut that is in similiar condition for $350 shipped. Local gun shop has one (not sure of condition or matching numbers etc) and it is tagged @ $499.00 (price is negotiable I'm sure)

Mine (1911) has nicer wood and metal, but your bore is described as a lot better.

Shoot it. You'll love it.
