value of these SXS ?

Id like to post these on the ee but i dont really know what to ask for them. The first is a N R DAVIS & CO demascus barrels couple of dents otherwise prety good shape every part of it is numbered wood & all 39http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u4/mahony1277/?action=view&current=gun018.jpg second one belgium unknown buttplat looks to have been tamperd with wood has been poorly refinished otherwise decent shape http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u4/mahony1277/?action=view&current=DSC00152.jpg ballpark figures greatly appreciated.

Definitely not original. Look at the finish of the original piece - scalloped fences, accents of light engraving. Do you think the maker would include as part of his design a plate of brass with no engraving at all, slightly skewed, fit unevenly to the wood, and with poorly finished rivets? (Come to think of it, rivets? How are you supposed to get that off and back on again.) No. Definitely a local gunsmith repair job.

If she shoots well, that's a plus. Other than that, there's nothing there for a collector. Dare I say, a bit of a frankengun.

I have to remove myself from consideration on the Davis. I can't get a good feel of the overall condition from the pictures I've seen so far but, depending on the price, I might be interested myself. So, you can see how it would be difficult to be objective.
