Value of this Revolver???

Try to avoid posting these threads but I'm trying to figure out if I've been offered a deal.

Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum. Stainless, 7 round cylinder with black grips. 8 inch barrel. Less than 500 rounds. Any ideas on value?

Oh, Model 686 I believe.

Not sure about price, but how common are 7-shot speedloaders? Do you really need eight inches?

Is this 686 plus with 8 inch barrel?
I can't find such version in the S&W standard catalog.
Will check it again later, but it may be a custom gun.

The longest barrel listed for 686 plus is 6" - at least according to S&W catalog.
As per value - I'm finding the prices listed in catalog not accurate for our, canadian market (not at all actually). I know that standard 686 with 6" barrel (pre-lock) can be obtained from $600 (great price) to $800 (not so great price). Now it's up to You - I wouldn't consider 7 shot revolver - too much hassle with finding the right speedloaders, but if that's what You like, go for it. Good luck!

For sure. Def a 6 inch barrel. S&W 686-6 7 round cylinder in .357 Magnum.

You know what... you are right! At least if I am measuring it right. A tape along the barrel shows 5 inches from muzzle to where the barrel stops in front of the cylinder. I just assumed the 686-6 meant 6 inches!
