What are the USGI stocks selling for in Canada these days? Both wood and fibreglass types. I might have a line on one and don't want to overpay.

Thanks.

Considering that USGI M14 parts require U.S. export permits , the prices have gone up and the availibilty up here has gone down..............

A complete (with handguard) original finish USGI Fiberglass stock in good+ condition runs around the $125.00 to $150.00 mark these days.................thats what I see in the EE Forum.............

Fred's in the U.S. used to be the place to get them from, but they have raised their prices in the last couple of years, plus they don't really like us Canadian. The Export permit thing has put Fred's off the map for a lot of people up here.

SKBY.

Thanks. My new M305 currently has a Boyd's stock on it that I really don't want to bang up. Does the retaining pin mod need to be done on a Boyd's too?

You'll learn whether it is necessary or not while at the range.
The pin may back out of place (or it may not). If it shows a tendency to move laterally (and potentially binding the magazine in place), you can either modify the stock bedding (to support the pin), or replace the pin with a longer pin, or just drop a dab of 242 Locktite on the pin (which is easily defeated, when desired, with application of Tetra lubricant).

I have had several of these for sale over the past while and all have sold for 175.00 and up. depending on whether I refinished and custom painted them. I also do all the selector and recoil guide pin area filling, primer, paint and clear coat. This extra work bumps the price well into the 200's. No one has complained so far. These stocks, in unissued condition like the ones i get, are over 100.00 cnd from my source stateside. Everything m1a/m14 down south is getting pricier by the day

The USGI glass stocks offer way more customization projects, fun, paint jobs, and then further glassing for the pistol grip, kommando look, baby killer, hoodlum , gangsta (I'm quoting all bleeding heart gungrabbers). ;)

The wood stocks offer you a finite (very few, I must say) options for playing with, or tweaking.

The USGI glass stocks were the best value in the M14 hobby up until recently. Times change.

BTW, Fred's business has not shipped my glass stocks I ordered way back in March of 2003. They hit my credit card and never shipped the stocks. I'm closing in on a world record for shztty customer service, I think.
