value of winchester 1895 303brit?

This is an excellent price if it is like you say.

I would look for major cracks in the stock and any sign of corrosion of the bore.

An 1895 can go for as much as $1000 in perfect shape with run of the mill ones going for around $550-$650.

Watch out for wore out ones!
When the bolt is all the way back look to see how much it tilts up.
When they get too bad they won't #### the hammer & then it's very hard to repair the rails.
 
Looks good but it does not look original. The fore stock is probably not original and although hard to see from the picture, the rest of the gun might have been refinished.

What is the wrapping around the buttstock?

This would not be big problems if you wanted as a shooter but as a collectable, I would not pay $375 for it. And unless you would want it for sentimental reasons as a hunting rifle, there are way better choices out there for very little more cash.

On the other hand, if you're short of cash and like this model, by all means get it as a hunting rifle.

If the gun is fully original, the potential is definitely there for a profit. If not, then you are taking a gamble but at worst, you should be able to sell it for the asking price quoted here - might take some time to get your price.

I have been keeping a close eye on the sale of this model and the lowest price ever seen was around $350 for an original one with a repaired broken stock at the grip. Of course, the gun was around for sale for a long time and as far as I know, it never sold.

I believe that their asking price has gone up slightly in the last couple of years and I see less of them for sale.

If you decide to buy it, make sure you check the bore for rust. This caliber (303 British) has a fairly high probability of having been exposed to corrosive ammo at some time in the last hundred years.

After looking at some pics of other ones on the net I would agree that the stock does look altered.Seems like they had wood to the end of the barrel except the hunter version which only went about half way but had a schnable fore end.

With the time and effort involved in going to get it and then re selling ,I would have to get close to $500 shipped to even consider this .I have my doubts that it would go for that...
