Hello found a ww2 1911 A1. The slide is ithaca. The frame is a colt and is marked GHD. The barell is marked colt 45 auto. The bore is mint. The handgun has its original parkerizing. I'd say it's a 9 out of 10 condition wise. Has the original grips and magazine. Anyone have any idea on the value. Thanks

Hi,

It sounds like a typical arsenal re-build with arsenal re-finished parkerizing to give it the matching/original look.

The value would be what a typical arsenal re-build goes for, typically $800 to $1000 up here when I've seen them for sale on the EE.

I don't think we can be of much more help than that without photos. If the finish is not USGI, and it was refinished by a gunsmith/restorer it will be worth less than genuine arsenal finish, at least in my opinion.

Regards,
-Steve

Thanks Steve. It is definitely original and hasn't been reparkerized. The edges are nice and sharp. I haven't found any marks that indicate it was a rebuild. I'd love to post some photos up but it's not allowing me.

I'd say about 700$ is a fair asking price. Historical as it may be, it isn't original (in the sense that parts match) and it's still surplus.

I myself have an all original 1943 mfg ithaca 1911a1 that came out of a retiring gun nuts estate that I got for 500$. Not a lot of finish left on mine so it would be more considered a patina'ed gun, but serial on the frame and slide markings match up and both have matching finish (or lack thereof)
