value on .357 Mag ammo

Trying to find a deal with a local guy on a gun. He has a bunch of factory American Eagle .357 Magnum (red boxes) fifty per box, 158 gr JSP bullets.

I got out of pistols a long time ago and never had a rifle in this chambering. What is this ammo worth per box? And is it reasonably "sellable?" I don't want to get stuck with a bunch of ammo that I can't use and can't sell or swap for something useful to me....

***PS) If you want to advise me to buy a pistol in .357 Mag, that's a non-starter....:p
 
Wholesale listed them in the 05-06 catalog @ $19.99/50. Not sure about market in your area bu around here not too many shoot factory ammo--usually handloaded cast stuff. If you got it cheap enough it would be a good deal though. If I am buying for re-sale I won't pay more than 50% on current production stuff.

I buy the exact same thing for my S&W 686-6 here in Nova Scotia for $24 a box from my local dealer. Good stuff, never had a problem with it.
 
Thanks guys. I did get a few boxes as part of the deal, and it seems to sell well at $20 a box, judging by yesterday's gun show. He still has a pile of it, but he wants $20 a box for it..........and at that price I am not at all interested.
