I know already the general pricepoint for a Garand is anywhere from $1200-$3000, but I'm trying to pin down a price for a Winchester Garand, 110### serial, in a synthetic stock. I know the plastic lowers the value, but would I be correct in assuming it's still a $1200 rifle?

I tried searching the EE, but obviously the ones that sell get removed.

I'd find and buy a Winchester made stock before and sell the synthetic stock separately.....Harold

Is the garand a mix master of parts or is it all Winchester? There is a few variables at play for pricing. The plastic stock definitely hurts value. I may be able to help you out as I've acquired a couple Winchester stocks to replace the faked cartouche stock of a Winchester garand I had bought off the EE that was advertised as original. Live and learn, thanks to fellow collectors, and a garand stock experts who notified me of the fake stock and found me a few genuine originals. Just so you know they don't come cheap and very tough to come by.

Isn't worth $1200 in the synthetic stock. $600 maybe. Depending on the condition. Crying shame too. The S/N puts it in May/June of 1941.

The above statement is nonsense, the sum of the parts alone are worth over a 1000 assuming they are WWII usgi. OP with out pics and details of the rifle anyone here can guess of the value. Do your research look up parts and heat lot numbers, cross reference what they would cost to acquire and you should be able to make educated guess of value.

^^ Yep nonsense. Some folks are trying to drive down the market price for Garands, based on what they paid for a rifle 20 years ago. A rifle that's no longer produced, with a good reputation and pedigree, that's more desirable than most milsurps and that you can still find parts for, and shoot with commercial ammo.

A parts built garand 2 years ago cost me around 2k, including parc'ing professional job, shipping parts, duties currency exchange etc etc. At the time, the dollar was on par. It's maybe not "worth" 2k to sell it on the market, closer to 1700-2000 depending on what I include with it. An old beater garand that still works, anywhere from 1000 and up. The plastic stock doesn't add any value but really doesn't detract from it either (because replacement are available from Boyds). A real deal, original stock would add to the value but the gun would likely be pretty beat up anyways, let alone the stock. so the overall price might go down. A minty, freshly rebuilt and parc'd and fresh nicely done stock, new barrel, with a buttstock cleaning kit, and sling, and repro bag, is worth 1800 and up.

It sounds like a sum of the parts. What condition are the parts? All NOS? All rusty and pitted? Used? Worn? Reblued, Reparked? Condition is everything, not just the name Garand when it comes to price.

Like I said, it's not mine, but the parts look to be in good-very good condition. In the photos it looks like standard Park finish, except the gas tube looks blued, but the owner says it seems like there's a clear-coat overtop of the whole thing. He doesn't know where the parts are from, but he figures it's probably a refurb.

I want to buy it off him, but he has no idea what it's worth. Me, being the honest young guy I am, intend on screwing myself out of money by telling him what the gun is really worth, because I'd feel bad ripping him off when he doesn't know. I know the general price range, but I just wanted to know if I can narrow it down from the $1000-$3000 range to something more concrete, within only a few hundred variance.

For Parts Condition, Good to Very Good is like Hotdogs compared to Lobster tail.

Clear Coat is like a Hump Job.

Buy it as Cheap as you can get it.

Maybe it's one of those $650 Garands they imported and were selling here back in 2009.

Back in the 90's, at several Gunshows in Calgary, there were full tables of $99 Garands with mismatched wood and varied by condition from fair to good + or -.
The SKS's were $149.

Guy said he got it at a gun show in the '90s, so it's not one of them.
