Morning everyone. Hope this is the right thread for this.

Through one of my trade deals should it make sense, I should be ending up with an original mini 14 with an original factory folding stock from an old family friend.

The first question I know will be asked is this - is it stainless? I don't know yet but he thinks so....been many years since this thing has seen the light of day. I will provide more info and pictures as soon as I can, but for now, just looking for an idea of what these are currently worth in say poor/good/nice/excellent condition.

I understand they are fairly desirable, but unsure of what a fair value might be at this point.

Thanks for any help.
Darren

I paid about $900 for mine about 6 months ago. Mine isn't stainless, and while it functions perfectly, I would rate it as "Fair" Condition due to the condition of the bluing. From what I saw on the EE here, Asking prices of these seem to range from $900 - $2500. The factory folder stock alone is worth $400-500 USD on ebay.

Thanks much...funny coincidence, I post this asking as there is nothing on the EE and one pops up for $2200..in stainless. Again, still have no idea what it is or condition..will post when I do.

Yeah he started at 3000..
Look up the models. There arent many. The GB folder versions being pretty rare in Canada. Not sure about 2k + though..

Thanks again everybody. So I got a couple of crappy pictures, but have not seen it yet in person so can not comment on condition. Asked if it was a GB model and he didn't know. Says it has the proper scope mount and scope (which I didn't get a make on yet). Also, not sure of what mags come with it. Sorry for the lack of info, just trying to be prepared for when we do meet in the morning. In all honesty I am not interested in keeping and will most likely sell it, but don't want to put more into it that I can reasonably expect to get out. Will try to get higher res pics tomorrow.

The good news is that it's stainless, but unfortunately it's not a gb model. The gb's have the front sight halfway down the length of the barrel and have a bayonet lug and a flash hider. Nice rifle though!

Thanks for your help. I have it in my hands now and it is very nice. Based on what many of my other stuff looks like for this vintage, I would call this a 9/10, being that a BNIB unfired is a 12/10 that becomes a 10/10 used as soon as the first round is fired :) but that is all subjective. His valuation was on the higher side at $2k stating that is has a very hard to find original Aimpoint scope mount that does not require drilling or tapping and includes the remote button to lock the action open. Has a factory 5 round mag and a Scorpion 4-12 scope. And the sling...let's not forget the nylon sling...kidding.

Anyhow, that is it. Here are some pics. Any feedback would be great. That is the area I need to be in to make this deal work. If you think it is reasonable, please let me know.

EDIT: forgot to add...took pics close up of stock which shows handling marks. I do not consider these scratches as they are no worse that handling/assembly marks that I have on other unfired firearms of that era. There is one small bit of paint missing off the rear sight which I took a close up of. Also, was told that the vintage is 1984 but haven't confirmed yet.

Thanks
Darren

No worries...thanks for all the opinions. I am in a unique situation whereby I can take this on trade for something I want to move and sell it to make the deal work. I am passive in that I do not need to make a premium over his valuation, but need to make sure his valuation is realistic. My suggestion to him is that I take possession of it as a tentative trade (so I am not selling for a friend as per the rules) to sell on the EE and the market will determine true value of which he can accept as what I will ultimately pay him. If the full value is met by someone who wants it, great! If not, then any offers received will become part of the negotiating process.

With that said, here are the perceived values.

$200 for the scope, which I'm sure could be removed from the package as scopes are fairly easy to move.
$200+ for the aimpoint mount...supposedly rare as well - cannot be removed from package as no use for it off this rifle
$1600 for the rifle as he is very stuck in his belief that there is not a cleaner version out there - not sure I could argue that

In any case, I think that is where we are at, so will allow time for any final thoughts, then I will post it and see what comes of it all :)

Again, thanks again for all your help.

Yeah I think 1600 is high tbh. A scorpion scope isn't always that easy to move either. Maybe in the sub 200 market though...
It's always tough when you have something worth a pretty penny then try to sell it and nobody sees the value you have in it.
If a folder stock alone goes go for 500-600 in the used market then you should be good. A member has mentioned it does.

Fully understandable. As I mentioned, this is a unique situation I find myself in, in that I have no emotional skin in the game on a collector piece (I certainly have before). It all comes down to finding the right buyer at the right price. We will know soon enough what the market says :)

Don't the factory folders have the front sling swivel on the side mine did

You are correct. If it came from the factory with the folder, the swivel should be on the left hand side of the gas block, as seen in the picture below.

Looks like the gun didn't have that stock from the factory, but he or a previous owner acquired the stock at a later date. This may help give the OP a bit of wiggle room on the price.
