Just curious, not looking to sell..

What are values these days for the savage 99’s in .308 or .358.

Mine is a 99C RKS .358 rebore with a custom stock I built etc. I’m trying to understand what the base value of a savage 99 is, and for something like a rebore .358.

This question is more to do with insurance/replacement value and curiosity on increased value.

Thanks CGN for input or even rough guess on the matter.

I bought a 1958 m99 in 300 savage. VG condition, 95% bluing, excellent bore and wood. I paid $750 and thought it was quite a good deal. I expect yours would be valued in the neighborhood of $1000-$1200 for insurance purposes. The rebore reduces collector interest.

Although there’s a cool factor, the fact remains you have a bit of an ugly duckling of sorts with the rebarelling/re boring to a slightly niche category cartridge (I am a .358 fan btw)

If you find a similarly minded gun nut as yourself you could possibly fetch a hefty pittance for the rifle ($1200 plus) but that could take a lifetime to realize.

The realities are you’ll likely struggle to re coup what you’ve invested in custom or semi custom rifles or similar modifications.

insurance valuation is a tricky and painful reality, pay enough of a rider premium, you could get what ever you could possibly imagine in coverage, at what sort of cost amortized over whatever time period (premiums vs payback vs reality)

Your rifle is a custom one-off. Makes it harder to value than a factory original in fine condition.
Its ultimate value would be to that person who appreciates what you have accomplished.

Insurance values are in a different category.
I would take the value of the unit and add the cost of the extras.

We’re not trying to determine selling value, but rather replacement worth.

I’d tag it at the $1500 area, condition pending.

A 99 in 308 win recently sold in the EE for just north of $1000
$1200 seems to be in between me ears.

Photos do help.

bring a rebore adds no value what's so ever and calling it custom is a stretch insurance will not pay for any of the changes to the gun it will be based on the value of the gun as it was originally
you would pay for the upgrade just as you did
so if it was a excellent condition 308 then 1000-1400$

Kamlooky for the win, but appreciate all the input on the matter. It was a relatives rifle, and the sentimental value is a bigger factor for me.

In terms of having a rebore vs. a factory bore… the gain twist is brand new and fresh, over something that could possibly be pitted. Factory 358 bore likely more value, but I’d prefer this as a shooter and not a seller. My logic is biased but maybe explaining my process will makes sense to my interest in the matter.

It’s custom and doesn’t check many of the boxes, was just looking for baseline value
