I posted this over in "General Firearms" but thought afterwards that i might get better info here as indoor ranges (at least to me) are more about handguns.

Looking for advice from Vancouver area CGN'ers

I'm going to be in Vancouver in a couple of weeks and will have most of the day to kill on Friday. I plan to drive out to Maple Ridge to check out Wanstalls but it occurred to me that it might be fun to shoot a bit too. I see two drop in ranges in the area with gun rentals. (The Range at Langley and Vancouver Gun Club in Port Co) Is there anything to choose between them? I'm thinking The Range as their hours would be more convenient (VGC appears not to open until 2:00 PM) but I might be able to make VGC work if there was a compelling reason to choose it over The Range............... or am I missing a third option that might be better than either of these?

The one in PoCo is actually called DVC Indoor range. That and The Range are the only two public access and rental ranges here. Only other option is to have a local CGNer take you out shooting.

DVC has been around longer and can get very busy depending on when you're there. They do have a good assortment of guns.

DVC is the club in Port Coquitlam. For whatever reason they go by Vancouver gun club as their domain name.
I would recommend the Range Langley but you may need to book a lane ahead of time and they charge by the hour, or at least they used to.

Thanks, if there is nothing negative about the one in Langley I will probably go there as the hours are much more convenient for what I have planned (out to Wanstalls for when they open, then go shoot and be on the way back into town by early afternoon). I find it a little weird that the DVC doesn't open until 2PM

I've been to both (on groupons no less) & had great experiences at both of them. We waited a long time to get in (towards the end of the groupon expiry which im sure made things way worse wait wise) at DVC, and to their credit, they had big tanks of hot chocolate set up outside and fresh pizza deliveries waiting once we got inside. So, despite the wait, the extra effort on their part & the fun we had when we did get to shoot made it a great experience.

The range at Langley was also on a groupon and was a last minute change of plans for me. Daughters 14th birthday, ball game got cancelled, wife out of town, CRAP, what no. Dinner and the range. Ok, so, dad had a home run with the look on her face after firing the 50, but, for her 14th birthday, I kinda failed, she said she'd have rather gone to the mall with her friends. Sigh. Anyway, the RO they gave us was awesome & did a great job. And, in no small part was a big reason why I did my CRFSC.

Have fun!
