I got carried away with skydiving and mountainbiking this spring and maybe missed a chance for some intro to service rifle/tactical rifle type courses as I wasnt checking the forums super regularly, and I figured I'd see if anyone knows of any courses upcoming in the vancouver area, as I'd love to take my xcr to the range for something other than bench paper punching.

thanks

I have put on courses in the past but the problem right now is finding a range that we can take over for a day or two as you can't have other folks wandering around while you're shooting.

Hey Wingsuit, I had my "intro course" just this last weekend!
At Vokes!
It was awesome and I highly recommend coming out next time, regardless of what level you feel you're operating at.
It was my first time running the SR course, first time firing an AR, borrowed the scope etc...it was great fun!
Just read up on the courses of fire and asks lots of questions here.
I've found there are a ton of CGN's willing to help out!

Yep, that's where i try to get to as well.
It's great in the mornings, not so much after 11!
I would say go down to the far western end of the line up so that you can practice some positional shooting, ie, kneeling, sitting, prone.
For me, that was the biggest challenge of SR shooting, the positions!
There is no bench shooting in the field!
If you're ever there early in the weekdays and you see some kook in bay A and B bouncing around between standing and kneeling, that'll be me!

right now I shoot at the port coquitlam & district hunting & fish and game because its the closest thing I've found to me.

No intro to SR needed. I didn't do it when I started. Just send in your application next year, make sure you have enough ammo and the proper equipment:

rifle (duh:D)
food, water
ammo
spotting scope (if you have one, you can borrow mine if you're on a different string)
raingear (just in case)
and a camera to take pics of the best range in Canada!

So true! Im just getting into restricted firearms and joined pcdhfc recently because its 7 min. from my home. I only go on tuesday and thursday late nights cause its usually only half capacity, and I dont have to deal with the crowd. Cant wait to go tonight!!!:dancingbanana:
