good afternoon guys
I just moved to the north end of the island and could use some tips on hunting black tail
I am not a new hunter but most of the time hunting area 5 and 7
any advise would be helpful

Sneaky little devils, those blacktail. Can be challenging to hunt
when they have rainforest for cover.
I hunted Gold River/Tahsis when I was on the Island. I used
my 6mm Remington exclusively.
Great tasting deer, IMHO. You might want to hunt the edges of
slashes. Good binoculars and rain gear a must. Dave.

North of Campbell River there is not as many gates, south of CR the gates in some areas are open on the weekend and you have to sign in. Its also heavily hunted south of CR. Find an area with lots of logging slashes and look for deer sign in the banks and on the logging roads. If you find an area that looks promising then get out and hike. Keep an eye on the timber edges around slashes. Of coarse November is the best time to hunt. You need to put your time in to be successful. Where abouts are you at?

I am west of port hardy in coal harbour. but not afraid to travel a bit. did a little looking last fall, but all the deer seemed to be in my yard eating the garden

I've hunted Eve River area, Sayward, Gold River and Zeballos, there's no shortage of slashes on the north island. All my blacktail hunting now is local , in around the Comox Valley. It's just a matter of learning your area, just get out there.
