I live in Ontario but I'm thinking ahead to December when I will be visiting my in-laws for a week or two in Nanaimo. Is there any hunting to be done on Vancouver Island in December?

Deer are open until the 10th, grouse until the end of the month (at least based on the last regs. New regs haven't come out yet). You do have to go with a resident and they have to have an Authorization to Hunt permit for you to hunt with them as well. The blacktail aren't a huge deer but they are fun to hunt! Here's the link to the info about the permit.

If you have any more questions I can try to help you out!

Galooshes, rain gear and a newfie fishing hat.
Bring firewood if you plan on staying out in the sticks.
I recall as a weeeee lad hunting with dad, wood was so wet
gasoline wouldn't keep it lit.
It can get mighty wet over there.
Spare change of clothes and foot wear too.

I recall many years ago watching a fellow on the tele. shooting Black Brant along the coast in Dec. on Van. Island.

Looked like heaps of good fun wing shooting.

Sometimes bird hunting restrictions are different than big game restrictions.

I reckon you could dig up B. C. regs. online easy enough.
