Hello guys/gals

My wife transplanted me from NB to Vancouver island a couple years ago. The father-Inlaw wants to take me off island on hunting trips for dear. But I want to know where on island I can freely roam for rabbits. Not looking for your secret spots but general areas, unless of course you would let me on your land.

Really I'm new to the area, and not yet aware of what land is fair for the hunting, I joined a local rifle range to try and get more perspective from the locals. Just looking to be outside more and to feed the new family.

If you don't want to post publicly feel free to PM me.

Thanks a million

U Vic. trapped and relocated feral rabbits to areas around Coombs and some have traveled towards the Port Alberni area.
You will have to do a little more research on where there are rabbits and where you are allowed to shoot them.
Good Luck in your quest.
Rob

Those UVic rabbits went to a refuge in Coombs. When they dug under the fence, the neighboring farmer shot them to protect his crops, causing an uproar among the local hippies and bunny lovers. poor little bunnies.

None of them seem to have made it into the cutline trails around Mt Arrowsmith, but lots of atv use and dog walkers could be pushing them farther away.

you would have to find a farmer with rabbits on his property as well as being in an area where it is legal to shoot. There is no season on rabbits on Vancouver Is; we have eastern cotton tails which are small and greyish brown, as well as feral domestic rabbits which are larger and most any colour. The eastern cotton tails are not native and more or less considered vermin particularly to people with gardens
