Vanguard 2 in 25-06 was it a good deal?

Just had a dealing with WSS in Calgary mail order dept.

Things didn't go as well as had wanted but in the end wound up with a new VG2 blued/synthetic hinged floor plate for $490.00.

The supervisor was actually very understanding in Calgary and made things good on her side of things.

Too bad the store policy is still so poor.

Still not impressed with WSS as a whole but the personnel I dealt with did a good job and wound up with what I feel was a decent deal.

A decent hunting rifle for under $500 isn't anything to complain about. I've never handled or shot one but there seem to be more than a few people speakign highly of their Vanguards so they must be decent.

Its a good price, not a steal, but a good price. How do you like the 2 stage trigger?

Not sure if your asking me or the OP but I very much like the trigger on my S2.

I'm convinced they are the best rifle on the market at that price point, and superior to many higher priced rifles. I had to have the .257 WBY, but nice thing about the 25-06 is you can get the removable box mag conversion. What you paid is what they were being offered for as a limited time introductory price at Cabelas back in October. A good price for sure, maybe not the fantastic one time deal because they f'ed up, but a good price on an great rifle.

Sounds like a fair price, I paid more than that over a year ago for a regular Vanguard that I bought local, I do my best not to deal with WSS as I have had too many screw ups, but sometimes there prices are too good too ignore.

Just the two, but this VG 2 is likely going to a buddy after I am done with it very soon.

The two stage trigger , haven't actually shot it, but it does feel nice, and I can see a guy benefiting from it.It is a crisp break.The second stage could be a hair lighter but for the price of the rifle and what it does I think it is a good package out of the box.

Now just to get some time and decent weather for load testing!! Damn wind hasn't stopped!

P.S. - the proform epoxy is working great, this is the third rifle I used it on.

Thats a good price, I paid $569 for my S2 in 270 win,$90 for the drop mag kit
