Got out to the range today and things are looking pretty good. The 3 shots circled in red are with the TSX. I had some loads with 100gr Ballistic Tips, but they did not seem to shoot as well. This load is 1gr below the max in Barnes manual for the X bullets. The squares are 1" in size.

Any better ... or any worse than the target they shipped with the gun ???

Try some 110 Accubonds or 115 Ballistic Tips as well.

Most .257 WM's seem to like H4831 a lot ! :)

Oh, and Federal Magnum primers !

Much better than the factory target. Mine is just around the 1" mark. I cannot get 215 primers for some reason here in Calgary. Been using CCI 250's.
I have some H4831, so will give it a try too.
Next range trip will be with the Accubonds, 115gr Ballistic Tips and some 115gr Partitions.

I like 2-3 lb but as long as it has no creep, a 4.5 lb trigger would be fine for hunting IMO

I got my new 260 today and it was 6 lb pull out of the box. I set it at 2.25 lbs

i just tested some TSX loads with RL-22. i used both 3.170 and 3.250 col the difference was deffinet.

using 71gr rl22 the 3.250 loads shot just under 3/4 inch and averaged 3705 fps with 14 fps spread.(spread not Standard deviation)

the 3.170 loads shot around 3 inches at only 3499 fps.

i tried powder charges from 68 to 72 grains, but the 71gr 3.205 load was by far the best.

this is from a mark 5 26 inch barrel.

A factory Vanguard should shoot groups about what you have with good factory loads (1''-1/2'') they are a good shooting rifle. I have some pics of a couple groups with my M700 with a Gaillard barrel and the first one is with 110gr accubonds and the second with 115gr partitions both using Retumbo powder. The 110gr are traveling 3500fps and the 115gr 3375-3400fps it says 3300 for the 115gr but it should have been 3400fps both groups are about .5'' sorry for the crappy pics.
