I have been working on load development for my Vanguard II in 257 Weatherby.
Tried a few combinations, and, while they all shot acceptably, I felt there was
more potential to be tapped in to.

I was right! Found a zinger of a load for it. 74.0 grains of Vihtavuori N570
behind the 110 grain Nosler Accubond. 3 consecutive groups: .41, .65 and .46 moa
Ran them across the chronograph. 3466 avg for 5 shots. I have my hunting load. :)
Interesting side info: These bullets are .140" off the lands. Dave.

All WBY chamberings have a long throat as standard production reaming goes.
I run H4831 with the same bullets in my Vanguard 257Wby for ~3400fps, could probably squeeze a little more out of it, but it shoots too good to mess with it at this point. The PBR is incredible with this combo, very enjoyable cartridge to shoot and hunt with.

I believe that the 240 Weatherby does not have a long throat, nor the 224 Weatherby, not unless our Mark V's are the only one's manufactured.

In this Vanguard, the only bullet I have played with that will even get close to the lands is the 120 grain Partition.
That leaves too little of the bullet in the case neck.

But, it shoots just fine with the "jump", so all is well. It is a hunting rifle, after all, lol. Dave.
