Vanguard improvement

i think the only way to settle this in my mind is for me to buy both;)....i think ill grab a 700 sps-v in .308 and a vangaurd deluxe in .300 weatherby mag;)....

i personally love the look of the both rifles....

While I own both rifles [700 & Vanguard], and I have no big issues with the Vanguard, I do not care at all for the factory trigger, even the shape of it is not right IMHO. I had a synthetic stock on it originally, and truly hated it. I found a Laminate, which, while still having a distinct Monte Carlo, at least looks better. I much prefer the "Classic" stock design, like the 700 Classic series wears. The Vanguard is quite accurate, so no complaints in that area. The finish is good, and the action seems nice and smooth. I have never had a 700 extractor problem, nor have I had a bolt handle fall off, so will not comment on that. No 700 that I have ever owned has been a real "dog" in the accuracy department, and most have been very accurate out-of-box. Round receiver, flat receiver, makes no difference to me. I glass bed either without a qualm. Recoil lug? How can it really make a difference whether it is part of the receiver or firmly clamped between the barrel and receiver? At this point, the 700 still has an edge for me., but I do not need to sneak around and hide if carrying my Vanguard. ;) :D Regards, Eagleye.
