I recently chatted with a gun shop owner in Arizona. He tells me that the Vaqero Light Weight has been recalled. Anyone have any information on this? P.S. the price of a 44 mag Super Redhawk new is $624 American. I paid $950 Canadian second hand for mine.

Your post is interesting to me, because I'm contemplating buying a Vaquero in .45 Colt, and I'm leaning towards looking for one of the older style guns. If there is a recall, my decision would be simplified....
Just a heads up on prices maybe, not to rain on your parade. The Super Redhawk in .44 Mag. can be purchased new for $850.00 Cdn. right in Edmonton....I'm waiting for a Redhawk in .45 Colt.

I have an "old" model Vaquero in .357 mag. It is polished stainless and therefor has an all steel frame. I bought this model on purpose to take some serious loads. All the gun test reports on the new Vaquero praise its' smaller frame size but also remind shooters that it is not as strong as the "old" models. I am not aware of a recall but it is possible that shooters are taking the rep of the vaquero's strength as given and are twisting some new models.
