vaquero vs cattleman

Hi Gifford here the most important thing about buying a cowboy gun is if it fits your hand . if you are shooting dualist style you have to be able to #### the gun without opening your hand, even a little makes a big differance when reaquireing your grip . If you shoot two handed like the kids and the girls than just buy the pretty one.

Ruger over Uberti anytime in respect to durability and reliability.

If you don't believe me, then I have a non-working Uterti Cattleman .45 LC to sell you :)

Not sure of the current Rugers, but my first Vaquero had a friggin ugly two or three line warning rolled into one side of the barrel. Beyond that Ruger over Uberti, there really is no decision to make.

Cheers,
on-ca

Simple: RUGERS DON'T BREAK

My only objection is Blackstone's Law Library on the barrel. If you buy a stainless one, that can be removed with a bit of sanding, and it polishes up so you would never know it was there. At least that worked for me.

Yeehaw!!

thanks for all the input. found one so far on the ee, a stainless .45 with 5.5" barrel. just paid for it, waiting for the transfer. found another, waiting to see if i get a response from the seller. now i just need to find a rifle.

I have to call B$ on that one, the transfer bar on my .44 Vaquero broke at about 20,000 rds down range. But I do own 5 (old style)Vaqueros, because of the quality!

Deadman that's right on and to make things even better we have just set the SAWWS Cowboy Action Shoot dates at the Saskatoon Muzzleloader club. The spring "Big Bang" shoot is set for May 29 and 30Th and the "Last Gasp Top Gun" shoot is August 14 and 15Th. Bring your new 45's and tell all your friends to join you. We will have updates on our web site ww w.sawws.com as posters and club shoot dates are finalized. Hope to see you there.

So, i think i have just about everything i need. the rifle is in the mail, paid for one pistol, need to finalize the deal on the second. probably need to get a belt and holsters, but is there anything else?

when i first got started down this road, i thought i just needed a pistol, cause i had a sxs shotgun and an old winchester lever, but then found out it had to be a pistol caliber rifle, and you need two pistols. not that i mind buying a couple extra toys :D, just want to know if i'm still missing anything.

as for belt and holsters, any opinions/recommendations?
