Is using varget in a short barreled .223 a good idea, or does it need a longer barrel due to it's burn rate?
Would 19" be enough for varget, or should I be looking at something a little faster?

This is a bit of a persistent myth. Unless underloaded or very badly selected, rifle powders will reach "all burnt" after 8-10" of bullet travel.

Go ahead and use Varget, it'll work great for you.

I have used it in a 10.5, 14.5, and 20 in. Good powder, but you may find that you get similar results out of H4895, and don't have to wait around for varget. If you are trying to push long arrows, you will probably want a different powder.

VARGET IN A 223 MUST BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.

Please send to ME for proper disposal.......

PS now back to the regular programming. Only downside will be case capacity. If shooting heavier bullets, should be no problem. You may find that with light bullets, you run out of case capacity before you reach max performance. If that is the case, go with Benchmark.
