Hi all,

I was wondering if mixing the size of bb's in a shot gun shell affected the patterning/grouping adversely.

Say if you used 3 different size bb's and the load was roughly 1/3 of each?

Would it have a unique pattern if compared to a full load of either size?

Anyone have experience/tested this?

Thanks.

Remington for a while marketed a load with 2 sizes of shot but when steel shot became mandatory for geese/waterfowl it faded away.. You could do the same if you are very aware to not go over the weight of powder to the weight of shot ( a 1 oz load of#4 with 7 1/2 added to fill in the spaces would add up to more than a 1 oz. load and the powder would have to be adjusted). A 1 oz load or a 1 1/2 oz load doesn't care what the shot size is only the weight of the shot, but you may have to play with the height of the wad/wads to get a good crimp.
