Versapod vs. Harris

John, Harris made a very small change and that was going to a large diameter screw assembly (Allen head with a pressed disk to it to increase the diameter of the screw so you could use your fingers (more torque with large dia.)). Compared to the slotted screw its a huge improvement. We offer speed screws for the older Harris bipods so the shooter can get away from using a screw driver each time he goes to install or remove his bipod.

Well the friggin Harris that was on 1 of my hunting rifles until today, has bitten me for the last time!!
Was out antelope hunting yesterday and 3 times was bitten while retracting the legs, this is NOT going to happen again, that rifle now wears a Versapod!!
Anyone wanting a deal on a slightly used , and slightly bloody, Harris bipod, will find 1in the exchange forum.

From my experience for heavy guns 13+ pounds neither is really good. If your rifle is less then 13 pounds, I'd go with the Harris without a question.

Versapods are just too darn sloppy IMHO. Some guys like them and are impressed to all hell with them, but they are big, bulky and well..just simply sloppy. Even their new friction models leave much to be desired....The search continues. I'll have to follow up on some alternate options.

Those who love Versa Pods and are interested in one, send me a PM and I'll cut you a deal on my remaining inventory....

Just to confirm, the Harris and equivalent Versapods are about the same price. Quickly dropped by LeBaron since I was next door and they sell both. Didn't have a chance to check what exactly they have but I know they have the Harris BR, the basic Versa and a midlength one. The basic Versapod was ~95 and the Harris BR was 99.

In defense of the versa pod, a fellow who runs a small shop in the Calgary area (50 cal shooter:D ) really likes them and even swears by them!

Versa Pod does make an all steel one for the hard core users.

I haven't seen any fall yet and they do the job but eveyone has different ideas of what works.
