Hi all,
I've noticed I can never tighten my Versapod tightly enough to keep it from canting completely. I can tighten it as much as I can with my hand, but if I put a bit of force on the rifle in any way it cants. Is this easily fixable?

You could buy the non canting version....

mines pretty lose I guess you would say, but I've never had it be a problem, I do know I hated it when I had one that didnt pivot at all though.

That is my experience as well, a bi-pod that does not cant is useless except from the bench, and from the bench a sandbag is better.

Hi Rohan,

Mine won't lock completely either... but I don't think it's meant to... I think it's just a friction adjustment to make it harder to cant...

Thanks for the comments.
I guess it's not that huge of a deal if the rifle is 3 degrees off, especially when shooting no further than 600m.

do you have a Scope level?

a 3 degree cant will be a miss at 600Meters on a 6MOA target

I have a USO rail mounted level. I find if I adjust my position much then the rifle cants, and the recoil of the rifle adjusts it slightly as well.

Get set up in position look through your left eye at the level with your right eye (assuming you are right eye dominant) behind your scope when the level is level breathe and fire. It does take some practice admittedly but to cant your scope will alter your POI.
To have the bipod swivel or cant setting snug is 1 thing but rigid is another, and not terribly desireable. The versapod has only a friction lock so will never be 100% non moving, which is the way it is designed to work. No movement is fine for paper but does NOT work in the "real world"

I can do that; that's what I usually do. It's just annoying because sometimes it will move significantly and I end up having to change my position.
I understand that though, so I'll try and work with it.

Thanks,

Harris bipod with pod-lock or a non-canting version will do best.

As Jamie has mentioned, cant can cost you a shot! One thing overlook often is that it is more important that you shoot in the same position all the time rather than everything being perfectly level.

Eg: for instance, if you level your rifle, then level your scope reticle for plumb and level, but when you shoot you may not saddle the rifle level thus causing cant.
