Vertical stringing

I have a P14 that is a shooter as far as p14's go.
I shoot Cast mostly in this rifle but to check a habit it seems to have I put two groups of 7rds Belgian .303 ball through it today.
My issue is a one hole group that is 2" vertical at 100/M.
The lug is bedded and the barrel floated.
Iam thinking that because the barrel on these rifles is like a noodle they tend to whip around a little. However the barrel is free to move.
With the cast bullet 314299 I have settled on a load that keeps the rounds in line but the stringing still persists.
Can any of you/all give me some advise concerning how to control groups that pattern this way?.
Thanks

Depending on how much vertical your talking about what I've found is that its generally considered that vertical grouping is a indication of need for a bit more powder...... work up slowly 1/10 at a time and you'll probably see those groups shrink down.... it it persists might require re-bedding as a fix...
my thoughts.

Differences in case neck tension can cause vertical stringing esp. with lower velocity loads, and is even more critical with BP loads.
