Well they finally got here, so I thought I would share a pic with everyone and show off a bit. I bought these together and they're my very first handguns. I got a CZ SP-01 coming this week too! Anyway, here are my new handguns, a Ruger Redhawk in .357 mag and a Norinco 1911A1 .45.......enjoy :D

Very nice, you're pretty much starting at the top of the power pole there. Welcome to the most endangered shooter's club :D.

Nice Redhawk!
And welcome to Pistol Ownership. Now comes the fun part, waiting for the ATT. Can't tell where you're from, but here in MB, mine took 3 business days from phone call to my mailbox.

Thanks, I'm taking them out to the range tomorrow, can't wait to get some rounds down range. How much of a difference in recoil can I expect from both these calibers?

Well I took them out to the range today, and they both shot great. The revolver was dead accurate, and recoil was nothing, even with .357's. The 1911 wasn't as accurate, I didn't realize how the smallest movement with it can take you totally off target! But I eventually concentrated and ended up with some good groupings.....much easier to shoot accurate with the revolver tho! Recoil with the .45 wasn't bad at all either.....might have to step up to a bigger caliber one day, but for now I couldn't be happier....:D

is the norc, just stock? I'd heard they need a bit of work, out of the box. That's the reason I got a Glock instead. But of course for the price, a norc is always an option in the future, at least when they're in stock anyway.

Yup, it's a Norinco, 100% stock. I'm actually quite happy with it, sure I'd rather have a Kimber or something nicer, but she shoots just fine. I've got 50 rounds through it, no stoppages or magazine problems at all, it functions 100%. It could be a little more accurate, and the trigger could be smoothed out, but for the price and being a poor student, I'll just get used to it and learn to shoot it well. One day I might send it up to Armco for a tune up, but for now all I'm going to change are the grips.....Now I'm a huge 1911 fan, but my Redhawk took me back when I first saw it in person. It's a gorgeous gun, I might have a new favorite now....

Now on the subject of my Nork, is it worth sending up to Gunnar for a tune-up? I can live with the gun as it is, I only spend extra money if I really have too. Does it come back a lot smoother, and more accurate? If it's worth my money and time I'll do it, but again, I love it "as-is"......

Those Redhawks are really nice, a lot nicer than the Super Reds... Didn't know they were available chambered in .357!

Ya, apparently they were produced from 1983 to 1985, from the serial number mines an 85. I read that only 5000 were ever made, but who knows. I want to start reloading some of my own ammo, to test some hot loads in it, looking at the amount of steal on the thing I'm sure it could handle quite a bit.
