Gentlemen,
WW 2 Broke out on Sept. 1, 1939. This is just a small report of when the M1 Project 5 began and what orders were fill and when. Notice the USMC and the Coast Guard numbers. This data does give us some idea of what Ordnance was doing in this time frame. I hope you enjoy.

If you need a better copy just email me.

Warning, before you go to my sites lower your volume as the opening page contains a sound file which has a loading and firing of the M1 Garand. So if you're at work or home it may be wise to check your volume control.

80$ M1!!! Thats a small number I wonder how much it would be in todays dollars adjusted for inflation!

Seriously thought why ship over 4,000 to the National Gaurd  War was comming and I'd figure thouse rifles would be better put to use training more of the Regular Army in how to use them for the future war not the National Gaurd. That is unless ofcourse the US still was uneasy about going to war and was just going to let it ether die out or till the Japanese and the Nazi's attacked the mainland and in which case the National Gaurd would be used.

400 for the Marines is interesting, I thought up untill just after the war started the Marines were sticking to the Johnson and the Springfield Rifles. Seems like someone in the Marines was interested in getting the M1 :)
